Hey all,
I've checked with Crispian Jago who had the original of this image. Crispian has told me that he actually found the image via a google image search and that he's not been able to find the original artist. He's also asked around a lot and no one thinks the original artist would have an issue with it being used the way we're going to use it.
So, if anyone has the time and skillset, could you grab these images and see is we can't make a 90px high image that will work on a dark background.
Regards,
Gold

It's pretty cool. To work well with light backgrounds, the gold outlines need to be darkened. Hopefully the copyright holders of the Cheers TV programme won't be too miffed.

I've reproduced it in a vector format, so we can use it anywhere. I've emailed Gold a 90px high render.

It's not bad, but I think Danny is right with the colours. It doesn't work well on the dark background.
There is another one that would work well and I have permission to use it also.
The Merseyside Skeptics have a nice logo and I was hoping to promote it as a generic SitP logo.
The one I'm thinking of is more just the thought bubble with NZSitP in it than the full name + thought bubble. Like the @NZSitP Twitter account sans the 1023 twibbon.
I like this one because it's elegant, simple, screams "Think about it" and will inverse nicely for use on different backgrounds.
Thoughts?

Hey Gold, did you get the logo I emailed to you?

I did. Tested, and I like it a lot more. :)
What do others think?
As far as being an "official" logo, I'm wondering if we may run into copyright issues.
But for the mean time I'm more than happy to keep this one here. :)
We can always change it if
We can always change it if asked.
In the meantime, I'd change the red colour behind the breadcrumbs to to something that matches the logo - perhaps the brown from the bottom of the S, with white text.
While I'm on CSS stuff, we have a usability issue with link colours: some of the black bold text is links and some isn't, and you can't tell without mousing over. I'd recommend adding some colour to all links. Again, the brown might work, as it's dark enough to work on the same background as black body text, but hopefully different enough to stand out.

Actually to add my voice to this there seems to be quite a bit of markup that doesn't work. As a test:
