PN SitP

So I'm back and trapped in Palmerston North for around a year. I'm keen on making skeptics in the pub happen, though I have no illusions about it being big.

I guess the first three things to determine would be interest, location and what night suits people. I think it would be wise to rule out Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday. Initially I think the best periodicity would be monthly.

I've got no clue about what a good location might be.

Oops

Managed to comment on the wrong thread (noob).

I am in Palmy as well and would like to meet up for drinks - I don't recall any other Palmyites at the conference though.

My advise from getting the others started is to set the first meeting at least a month out. Give it time for word to spread. You'll find that it's not nearly as long as you think. :)

It'll also give me some time to plan to get there. I'd like to be there for the first meetup at least.

So, the next thing would be to pick an arbitary date about 6 weeks from now. Spend a few weeks checking out bars around the 6pm time slot and see if you can find a suitable one that is quiet enough to allow for conversation and isn't a complete dive.

I'll also get the palmy meetup group sorted for you. I'll make a start on that now.

PN SitP First Meeting

I'll arbitrarily make it the first Monday of next month (7th March) for now. Well after the conference I have to present at and hopefully just post convincing Massey they should take me on as a for-real PhD student. I'll make a post to the meetup group sometime soonish.

Then I can add you to the organiser role so you can manage the group and post events.

I (think) I created it, but requires more people to RSVP.

Still unsure as to location though. If noone suggests anything I'll probably just go with the Brewer's Apprentice, I think it would be adequate.
