The first Skeptics in the Pub Meetup for Christchurch this year is, unfortunately, going to be something of a memorial service. As you may have heard, Denis Dutton passed away on the 28th of December 2010.

To celebrate the life of this individual I'd like to invite you to come and listen to those that knew him talk about his achievements and the founding of the New Zealand Skeptics Society.

While the doors open from 5.30pm things won't get started until 6.30pm when we will screen Denis's TEDTalk. The floor will then be opened for people to get up and say a few (or a lot) of words should they wish.

If you don't want to signup for this site to RSVP you are still welcome to attend. An e-mail to chair [at] skeptics [dot] org [dot] nz would be appreciated though so we can estimate numbers.

We had a good meetup, first time running video which worked really well.

Now I'm looking for more video content that has a license allowing me to download and playback to the group later. Yes, I know it's *possible* to download YouTube video, but there is no clear license for it, sadly.

Christchurch SitP

We had about 42 show up in Christchurch. The evening went well. :)

We've had speakers in the past that have used a projector so that was actually fairly easy to sort out.

Vicky and Mark got up to say a few words, which I completely failed to record. :/
