Christopher Hitchens, 1949 - 2011
Christopher Hitchens has just died.
The #RIPHitch and #hitch hashtags are going more than a little nuts right now, which is hardly surprising.
As this occurs I'm in the middle of writing an article about the walk for The Skeptic. I admit I'm having trouble focusing at the moment.
Instead I'll leave things with these passing thoughts, captured for ever on the net thanks to the awesomeness that is science.
@CatherineDeveny: "I, for one, do NOT hope Christopher #Hitchens rests in peace, but in passion, as he lived."
...and...
@drunkenmadman: "I think the best way to honour his memory would be to go out and destroy someone with eloquence #hitch"
I'm going to finish the article and go find a bar. Scotch is appropriate right now.

It's not often I feel truly
It's not often I feel truly moved at hearing of someones passing when I have not personally met them. I feel very sad with this news. The world will be a little dimmer without him. Time for a scotch as well....
"The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species. It may be a long farewell, but it has begun and, like all farewells, should not be protracted." C Hitchens.
